Application error 12030

I need a solution

Hi, 

I am trying to take ghost backup of a system to a DVD-R, after 15% of the backup, the following error message is recieved,

"Application Error 12030

Error 3 closing CD/DVD session - try a different media brand or type. If the problem persists, contact Symantec Technical Support at http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/"

Could you please let me know the cause and the solution for this error?

DVD-R used: Sony DVD-R (4.7GB)

Black screen after windows splash screen when booting to Ghost boot disk

Hey guys,

You have been super helpful for me on my journey to discovering and learning Ghost. Thanks for that. I am on my last two servers I need to back up, but I am running into an issue. I have been using the same USB to boot from for all of my HP proliant servers. Every other server seems to work correctly. I boot from USB I get the windows splash screen and it goes into Ghost/winpe page. I am now trying to back up two SQL servers that have an attached HP P2000 SAS controllers. I boot from the USB and get the windows splash screen, but then its just a black screen. I have tried a couple times and I have given it almost 4 hours to sit on the black screen to verify it is not just super slow. I have searched around and have found nothing. My assumption is that I am running into this issue because of the attached P2000 controller. Has anyone run into this issue trying to Ghost a SQL server or a server with an attached SAS controller?

Oh yeah the server in question is a HP Proliant DL380 g7. I believe at one point I injected additional drivers into the ISO incase that was the issue, but got the same results. I know previously when I ran into a driver issue I would still be able to boot to the winpe/Ghost environment, but now its just a black screen.

Image Deploy overwriting computer in GSS console

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me prior to calling support.

Basically I have a laptop here with Win 10 installed.

I manually install the agent the laptop appears in the GSS console

Then install the automation folder from the GSS Console after that.

....All good so far.

Then I want to create an image of this laptop. I setup a task to create a sysprepped image of this machine.

...Still all good.

Now I deploy that image to a new out of the box laptop. The image deploy job completes.

Then in the GSS console the newly imaged laptop overwites the original source image laptop.

It does not show up as a seperate new computer.

Does anyone know how to address this issue?

Having Trouble Connecting Clients To my PXE Server

I need a solution

I am trying out the GSS 3.2 and have my PXE server configured on the GSS, I have a DHCP server on another box and need to setup my scope options 066 and 067. The 067 option is what I am having trouble with as I don't kknow what file to point to to access the menu for GSS on a client machine. Can you help?

Below is the path I have set, which does not work.

Cannot Install NVMe Drivers With Boot Disk Creator

Hi,

I know I have the correct drivers for my NVMe drives as I was able to install them before in another GSS instance, however this time with a new install, they just won't install for me. I get the "Boot Disk Creator cannot add the driver 'iaHCIC'

I have tried all OS versions of this particualr file/s and I am trying to add to me WinPE 10.0 environment. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Keeping same computer name when reimaging

Hello, my apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere but I was not able to find anything on it.

I am working on creating a Windows 10 image job for our environment. We have about 3500 workstations in total. I have been able to capture and deploy a windows 10 enterprise image, however, it always images with a unique name. When we reimage we typically need the computer to retain the same name. For labs/classrooms that have 25+ computers, it would be quite tedious to have to manually rename each computer after reimaging. For windows 7, we were able to use the computername string in the unattend file. I found the following article from microsoft that this is no longer possible in windows 10.

Has anyone else encountered this with windows 10? Any suggestions?

Diference between GSS 3.2 and GSS 2.5

I need a solution

With version 2.5 I cloned my machines in two different ways:
1ª.- I installed the agent in my windows machines and from the gss console I created a folder with those machines and I assigned them a task with an image previously created with ghost.
How is it done now with version 3.2?

2ª.- It used ghostcast server and in the clients it started from pxe. To do this, it would drag ghostcastserver into the console and create a session and assign it an image previously created with ghost. I started a dhcp / tftp server and served them the boot.
How is it done now with version 3.2?

Sysprep Not Running

Hi All,

Looking for some assistance here.

No matter what I try I cant seem to het sysprep running when caputing an image.

I have upgraded to the latest GSS 3.2

Can anyone comment on what options I should set on the sysprep options in the Create Disk Image task?

Do I need to add command line switches?

Is the Default (local system account) option the right one?

When I deploy this image to other machines Psgetsid is showing matching SIDs.

Please help.

Ghosting bombs out at 90%

I need a solution

I am trying to push an image to a Dell XPS 13 9365. I have tried two ways. One using Ghostcast server and one using just a USB flash drive Disk from Image. I get the same results. Ghostcast server at about 90 or 91% the ghost window disappears on the client with an application error and a timeout on the server. If I am using stand alone the ghost window disappears. The command window behind says application error.

A little more info....we let our support go a couple years ago. This is an evaluation download. I just want to make sure this will work for our new systems before I re-purchase.

Image corruption after Windows Update

Hi,

I have GSS 3.1 MP 6 server.  I have a valid Windows 10 version 1703 image that I have been using for a few months now.  I'm trying to update the image to include the latest Windows Updates.  I narrowed the problem down to the 2017-12 Cumulative Update for WIndows 10 version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4053580). When I create the image it completes but when I try to open it in Ghost Explorer I get the error "Corruption in image file, or media not present. Not all files are shown".  In the left window it will show the System Reserved partition but not the "main" partition.  I tried pushing the corrupt image to a PC and I get Error 99 which was expected but I read where sometimes the image will work but not open in Ghost Explorer.  When I create the image I use the Additional Parameters of -CLONE,MODE=CREATE,SRC=1,DST=%IMAGE_FILENAME% -SURE -Z1.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Get Full OS version/build for Windows 10?

Hello,

Do you know if it is possible to get Full OS version (i.e. with the complete Build) for Windows 10 under GSS 3.2 RU1+.

Actually I get only the following information (from computer table): 10.0.16299

And we would like to get this: 10.0.16299.98

So we'll know that this computer is not fully patched (actually latest December CU is .125).

Any idea about how to have Dagent collect this information?

Hello All,

I am working with the trial license of symantec Ghost solution suite v3.2 just to for the testing purpose priore going to the implementation.

I have installled Single GSS server and imported ADK WinPE5.x .

now tried to take backup image of an endpoint machine. Below is the job configuration.

Slected create disk image->Image tool and additional parameter accepted as it is->Specified image file location in image->windows(in installation folder->Acccepted other setting as it is and saved the job.

Now dragged the job and move the job on the newly created machine-> endpoint resterd for two times but didnt saw any backup screen while booting.

Please helpo me with more dat if doing any mistake.

Any help will be appriciated..!!

Trying to get windows 10 1709 image

Okay guys sorry if this is any double post here. I am working from a Dell 3150 Laptop with a 32 gig hard drive. I have it running windows 10 ver. 1709 I was able to sysprep the machine. and i did make an image of it of course i did the following

changed bios settings to legacy secure boot off

rebooted to pxe captured image 

started 2nd computer same as the other one dell 3150 ( i have about 300) 

booted to ghost thru network connection

imaged 2nd computer

after restart went back in to bios and turned ufei boot on and secure boot on

then restarted and it tells me no drive found. if i go back to the F12 boot screen it does not show ssd drive listed. I have to go back to legacy boot mode with secure boot off. then maybe it will show windows 10 squares and circle but then it just sits i left it over the weekend and nothing

now the original computer i imaged is doing the same thing but it will boot like a brand new machine if i leave it on legacy boot secure boot off.

I am just new at this point and lost i went ahead over the weekend and uninstalled Ghost from my server and reinstalled it strating from scratch to make sure everything is right. but can anyone shed light on why this image is not working?

Hey guys,

I have received a ton of assistance here so far and I am very happy with the path I have taken so far. When i started I ran into issues using Ghost solution suite and ran into issues, since this was a bit of a time crunch I determined that using Ghostcast server was an easier alternative until I had more time to dedicate to this process. I am at the end of the year and I have a little free time and would enjoy learning this system more since it seems like quite a powerful tool. I have worked with MDT and other tools on the window side, but its limited self taught. So any help or direction with this would be appreciated.

I currently work as a small cog in a large corporate environment. This had led to huge challenges, speicifc to ghost is the issue with the PXE server. Currently i have no access or control the PXE server. So I think this might be part of the issue with using GSS. I have been able to get the required software, DAgent on many of the servers, but when i do a job it reboots the computer, but nothing else. I think this is because I cant hit the pxe server or maybe I need further help setting up the pxe server, either way any help would be appreciated.

how can I recover my gho image when it is damaged ?

    I used symantec ghost 11.0 backup my C drive as a gho image, when using this  image recovery my partition, when it go to 50%, it prompted “out error file to the following  location", when the choice is confirmed, it prompted "Ghost has detected corruption in the image file,please perform an integrity check on the image"and then it quited. When using Ghost Explorer to open the image file, it prompted " Please select the last section in the image file. "when selecting Cancel, it prompted" Image file contains errors or the media is not ready "and then  it quited.Then file in the image is important,could some one tell me how can I recover the image?

Ghost standard tools RU4 error during installation

I need a solution

I installed ghost standard tools 3.2.msi in a windows 10 64bits professional and everything went correctly. Then I run ghost standard tools 3.2_RU4.msi and when it is about to end it shows the error related to a script and in the list of programs I see two instances of ghost standard tools and also gives an error when trying to uninstall them. I have seen several related articles and followed instructions but I still can not get the installation to work properly.
Does anyone know how to fix it?

Ghost and sql server using a SAN

I need a solution

I am in a bit of a pickle. I have used Ghostcast to back up 9 out of 11 servers. The last two are creating a bit of an issue. I have two DL380 G7 attached to these servers is a single HP P2000 SAN. The servers are running Server 2008 r2 and the server that has Ghost Solution Suite is running server 2012 r2. On the previous servers:

  • I created an USB
    • with a few added drivers
  • I booted to the USB 
  • I used GhostCast to capture the image
  • And I tested the image by rebuilding the server using ghostcast

Up to this point I have run into a few issues, that were easily solved thanks to this forum. When it comes to these other servers when I boot to USB I am getting one of two issues. 

  1. Everything looks fine and gets into Winpe and to the terminal/cmd window, but locks up on "looking for boot device" and never goes past this point
  2. It hits the splash screen and then goes to a black screen and just sits there.

I have literally scoured the internet and this forum. I have tested multiple drivers. I have made various boot devices. Nothing seems to work. The only success I have had is removing the SAN. If I remove the san I can backup the server. The issue though is this does not help to back up the data on those drives. This is a SQL server and the data is very important. So at this point I have a few questions:

  1. Is it possible to back up the server and the data drive in one go?
  2. Is there a driver or setting that could be causing this issue?
  3. Is it possible to back up the SAN seperately and reload with the two sql servers if we need to bring them back to life?
